There
is so much that goes into good health. Body size can be part of it, when
it comes to extremes. Even body size is a complex issue, involving
nutrition, activity levels, genetics, and a host of other factors. Truth
is, researchers are constantly uncovering different clues. There is still
a lot to be learned about cause and, after that, control.
Controlling
body size is constantly being oversimplified. The expectation is that a
little bit of willpower is all that is really needed. Nonsense. Some of
the fattest people in our society are also some of the most strong-willed
individuals you will ever meet. Most know dieting inside and out, can
count calories better than the pros, and have exercised more than ten of
their best friends combined. Many have had gastric surgeries, been
psychoanalyzed, and endured eating disorders generally associated with
wafer-thin models. It just isn't working.
Think
about it . . . how many people would be fat by choice?
If
thousands and thousands of adults out there haven't been able to control
their body size, how in the world can you expect your children to come up
with the answers. I can't recommend this enough - read the personal
stories of people who grew up at chubby children by clicking

Wouldn't you rather take a different, more successful approach?
Concentrate
on good health. Work together as a family to get healthier. The weight
issues will take care of themselves. If your child doesn't become thin,
maybe they aren't meant to be. Bodies come in all sizes. The best we can
do right now is improved health.
