Are You Buying This?
Stuff you hear about body size that isn't true.

For Kids and Teens

Let's see . . . stuff you hear that isn't true. Let's do a list, in no particular order of importance:

1. Dieting works.
2. Girls have to be a size 2 to be pretty.
3. Boys have to be tall, muscular, and thin to be good-looking.
4. Weight-loss surgery has few risks and works.
5. No one will ever love you unless you're thin.

Not a one of those things is true. In fact, they are all downright stupid.

Here's the thing. People, quite naturally, come in all sizes. Beauty takes many forms. Throughout history different body sizes and shapes have been considered the most beautiful. Believe it or not, it hasn't been that long since skinny women were scorned and considered to be unattractive.

All body shapes are fine - especially yours. That is what is true. The important thing is to be smart about picking foods that are both tasty and do your body some good. Then be active - find fun things to do that make you stronger and fit.

If your parents are nagging you to lose weight, point them to this site and ask them to read with an open mind. It's your health, your body, and your life. Then you can all sit down and discuss the options beyond dieting. You'll all be happier in the end.

We could tell you how we think you should feel about your body but, quite frankly, we're more interested in hearing from you.

So, what do you think?

Take the time to write to us. We'll let you fill in these pages with your thoughts. Tell us what's on your mind regarding body size. We want to hear from you if you think you are too tall, too short, too fat, too thin, or just right. We'll pick some and share your thoughts here at a later date.
